Chenin Blanc is a variety that has been quite successfully proliferated in South Africa, and this is a wonderful example. Tropical fruit flavors of pineapple and papaya are pleasantly displayed on the palate, accented by notes of honeycomb and straw. A richer version of the variety, this will be a delightful companion for pork dishes that incorporate a bit of sweetness, such as honey-roasted ham.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern France's most famous wine region, translates to "new house of the pope" because the Papacy moved from the Vatican to the South of France in 1309. The region's most famous monument is the ruin of Pope John XXII's castle.
