2009 Peterson Dry Creek Valley Sangiovese
One 750ml bottle
Dark mixed berries, cranberry, dusty tannins, minerality, baking spices, earth notes and more, merge to create a cornucopia of aromatics. With all the refined aromas, it is tempting to keep sniffing, but don’t stop there for the best is yet to come. Muted yet intense mixed berry fuse with a dense spiciness – black pepper, baking spices and spicy acidity – and a touch of orange essence in the mid-palate.
This 100% Sangiovese was produced from fruit grown from two exceptional small plantings in Dry Creek Valley—Teldeschi Vineyard and Spadoni Vineyard. The Teldeschi Vineyard, on benchland in the mid-Dry Creek Valley, features southwest exposure and excellent drainage that help the finicky Sangiovese vines fully ripen the grapes every year. The Spadoni Vineyard is a meticulously farmed tiny planting on an east facing hillside on the western edge of Dry Creek Valley. The '09 vintage was one of the coolest in many years, and the resulting wines show the finesse, nuance and subtlety associated with cooler temperatures, along with the power and intensity for which the region is known.
