2009 Peterson Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel
One 750ml bottle
A classic Dry Creek Valley Zin with aromatics of blackberry, dark cherry and a touch of ripe plum fused with black pepper. Juicy mixed berries, plum, strawberry and spicy pepper notes slightly overshadow the hints of pomegranate, cherry and baking spices, creating a layered and luscious wine. Blending from four vineyards – Funsten, West, Borkow and Grist – located throughout the Dry Creek Valley appellation gives this wine flavors that are a reflection of a cross section of soil types and microclimates within the region.
The '09 Dry Creek Zinfandel has a depth of fruit flavors, along with richness, complexity, spice and earthiness. Four other varietals are added to the blend to give an intriguing multifaceted quality without overwhelming the inherent “Zinniness” of the wine. The Petite Sirah gives the wine darker, earth notes and more structure; Carignane enhances the spiciness and bright acidity. The small amounts of Grenache and Mourvèdre bring a little more fruit and richness to the wine.
