2009 Cass Paso Robles Grenache
One 750ml bottle
The Cass Estate Vineyard, located southeast of the town of Paso Robles, exemplifies the quality of the Paso Robles region with its warm days, cool coastal breezes, and exceptional soils. Resting at 900 feet of elevation, the 160-acre vineyard is planted to 11 varieties on a large terrace above the Huer Huero River. Deposited over centuries, the diverse alluvial soils make for an expressive site that produces fruit of incredible quality.
A variety well suited to the warm Paso Robles climate, Grenache shines in this vineyard, producing excellent quality year after year. The nose screams of enticing ripe cherries, dried strawberries, and savory charcuterie. A literal mouthful of red fruit, the wine bursts with sour cherry, Bing cherry, strawberry jam and pomegranate before the round, open-textured mid-palate unfolds. Taut acidity, toasty oak, and notes of cedar highlight the finish as the fruit just keeps on coming.
