The Cass Estate Vineyard, located southeast of the town of Paso Robles, exemplifies the quality of the Paso Robles region with its warm days, cool coastal breezes, and exceptional soils. Resting at 900 feet of elevation, the 160-acre vineyard is planted to 11 varieties on a large terrace above the Huer Huero River. Deposited over centuries, the diverse alluvial soils make for an expressive site that produces fruit of incredible quality.

A concentrated wine that clearly speaks to the intensity and ripeness of the '08 vintage, this Syrah gushes with plum and dried black fruit, followed by notes of peppered beef, smoke, espresso, and tar. The palate explodes with red and black cherry, cola and maple-glazed bacon flavors. Despite its flavor intensity, the palate remains soft and supple, with a creamy texture that is full yet pleasant. The dark fruit profile is persistent through the finish as sweet oak, coffee, butterscotch, and toasted marshmallow notes fill in.
