2008 Judd's Hill Milliken Creek Vineyard Napa Valley Pinot Noir
One 750ml bottle
The Milliken Creek Pinot Noir opens with expressive aromas of cherry, violet, baking spices, and a touch of forest floor. The light-handed use of neutral French oak barrels imparts a just hint of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a bright acidity balanced by rich fruit and loamy earth components.
The new Judd’s Hill winery sits right in the middle of Milliken Creek Vineyard. The magic of this vineyard is three-fold. This cool little pocket of the Napa Valley is a Region 1 growing area, a designation for the coolest climate in which grapes can be commercially grown - perfect for Pinot Noir. Secondly, the ability to blend from three Dijon clones planted here (50% 777, 25% 667, and 25% 115) allow for a multidimensional finished product. And last but certainly not least, a dream combination of loose topsoil over a loamy base makes for perfect Pinot Noir soil conditions.
