2010 Cline Sonoma Coast Viognier
One 750ml bottle
This Viognier is a blend of grapes from the Carneros and Sonoma Coast regions – which up until the 1970s were both dairy, sheep and cattle country. Cool grape growing regions, they’ve both since gained a world-wide reputation for producing very high quality wine. Viognier is sensitive to its surroundings; grapes are late ripening and have to be picked at just the right moment. Seventy-five percent comes from Cline’s Sonoma Coast vineyards where they are bathed in early morning fog and later warmed by the afternoon sun. The soil is rich with minerals and rarely needs irrigation. The balance of the grapes for this vintage comes from Cline’s home ranch in Carneros. The vineyards are located in the southern end of Sonoma and cooled by coastal breezes throughout the growing season.
The use of neutral oak barrels lets the fruit characters shine through without complications in this Viognier. It offers rich and distinctive aromas of peaches, apricots, orange blossoms and honeysuckle. The blockbuster flavor and full-body mouthfeel make it an ideal match for a variety of meals.
