“Southern Exposure” is C.G. Di Arie’s trademark for their highest quality premium wines. In this vintage they produced four different Syrah wines, three of which, including this one, were made from estate grown grapes. While all three wines have common attributes, this is clearly the best of this vintage. It is the more meticulous selection of the grapes, it had a better barreling program and there was more careful attention in the winemaking process.

This well-balanced Syrah with an abundance of savory flavor is reminiscent of an old world wine. It has a deep color with dark berry aromas combined with spice and mint. These flavors carry to the palate where they’re joined by layers of cherry, smoke and leather. The wine has a lingering finish that adds herbal and spicy character combined with applewood smoked bacon. This is a big wine that is beautiful now but will reach optimum quality with a few years in the cellar.
