The fruit for the '10 Napa Valley "Rosato" was grown in a small, select block of Sangiovese on a steep hillside in the Atlas Peak appellation at 1,800 feet above sea level. This fact constituted a tremendous advantage in '10, as Atlas Peak didn't experience the heat stress that impacted many valley floor vineyards. A modest three tons per acre yield resulted in concentrated fruit with crisp acidity and delicate fruit flavors, a great combination for an excellent rosé.

The '10 Swanson "Rosato" of Sangiovese has a bright, pink salmon color. Very fruity – strawberry, raspberry and watermelon on the nose, with an ethereal rose petal note. The acidity is nicely attuned to the fruity/floral aspects of the flavors. It's dry on the palate and surprisingly full-bodied with bright Bing cherry on the finish.

strawberry, raspberry, watermelon, rose petal, Bing cherry
