2010 Twisted Oak Calaveras County Viognier
One 750ml bottle
Floral nose blasts off before green apple, but apricot and lilac take center stage on the palate. Finishes up with racy acidity along with citrus and pear flavors.
2010 in Calaveras started out with a cold and wet winter; it seems that the rain would never stop. Once the rains finally did cease, cloudy grey weather persisted well into late June, thereby delaying bloom. The summer never really warmed up significantly and ripening got slower and slower. Even into August where heatwaves are the norm, there was no heat to be found. Consequently, the Viognier harvest, which typically happens in late August, didn’t come around until late September.
