2008 La Follette "Lorenzo" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
One 750ml bottle
Situated on the Santa Rosa plain, the extraordinary Lorenzo Vineyard features robust old vines planted in 1974 and rooted in Huachita clay loam. The 10-acre site enjoys the cooling fog of the mornings and evenings during the growing season. A true expression of old vine California Chardonnay, the Lorenzo is deep and complex with a strong malolactic signature, and benefits from tension between the fruit, richness and acid.
The bouquet is an olfactory feast of ginger, clove, crème brulée, yellow nectarine and toasted coconut with a drizzle of caramel. The entry, marked by lively acidity, leads to a silky palate of smooth tannins and tremendous depth of flavor. It finishes long with firm minerality and continues to develop complexity with aeration.
