2007 Domaine Carneros "The Famous Gate" Carneros Pinot Noir

The 2007 Famous Gate pays homage to our estate’s deep commitment and long experience with Pinot Noir. Between our extensive Carneros vineyards planted to a wide variety of clonal selections, our winemaker’s passion for Pinot Noir and our commitment to artisan winemaking techniques, the Famous Gate represents the pinnacle of our Pinot Noir bottlings. The climate of the Carneros is known for three essential Pinot-friendly elements—sunshine, cooling fog and afternoon wind—a balanced triad that coaxes distinction from the wines of the region.  
 
This limited release wine is available only at the winery, in select export markets, and at TastingRoom.com. 
 
As with all of their Pinot Noirs, The Famous Gate is produced in small, open-topped fermenters. The wine is then transferred to barrels and aged for a total of ten months. An exhaustive French barrel program comprises seven cooperages that specifically air-dry wood staves for us for three years, yielding softer tannins and less astringency.
