2006 Swanson Oakville Merlot

750ml wine bottle 750ml wine bottle

The 2006 Swanson Merlot is a definite cross between classic Napa Merlot and quintessential Right-Bank Bordeaux. Ripe cassis and elegant black cherry on the nose, with a hint of spice and plum. The tannins are very ripe and firm. Sweet, toasty oak, overlaid with pure raspberry extract and black cherry. Will cellar very nicely for the next 10 years.

Swanson’s Merlot grapes are grown on two vineyards. The Oakville Cross Road vineyard is estate managed and located mid-valley. The Schmidt Ranch is on the benchland adjacent to the Mayacamas Mountains on the western side of the valley. The Merlot and Syrah were sourced from the Oakville Cross Road site, while the Cabernet Sauvignon came from the Schmidt Ranch vineyard.
