The Vineyard:
This famous vineyard site is situated above the Salinas Valley near Gonzales. Perched on a sandy mesa above the fertile ground of the valley, the Pisoni Vineyard is ground zero for superlative Pinot Noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands. Reflecting a perfect convergence of aspect, site and soil, Pisoni consistently yields grapes with remarkable power and complexity, highlighted by pure raspberry and cherry flavors.

Pisoni Vineyard is an iconic site, located in the far southern hills of the Santa Lucia Highlands, which run along the western edge of the Salinas Valley in Monterey County. Situated on a long, sloping hillside facing to the east and southeast above the main valley, Pisoni is one of the region’s benchmark vineyards. The Santa Lucia Highlands is a cool area, perfect for the unique clone of Pinot Noir grown by Gary Pisoni. Gary is one of California’s most gifted winegrowers, and this vineyard has a well-deserved reputation for producing world-class Pinot Noir grapes. The original planting of Pinot Noir took place in the early 1980s, and we are fortunate to source our fruit from two coveted sections of the vineyard, Pisoni’s “old field” and the Hermanos block.

Tasting Notes:
On the palate, the structure and refreshing acidity of the 2007 vintage frame decadent layers of blackberry, framboise and strawberry pie. This wine delivers all the deep color, rich concentration and robust fruit that have become hallmarks of the vineyard.
