2007 Gundlach Bundschu Estate Vineyard Sonoma Valley Zinfandel

750ml wine bottle 750ml wine bottle

Vineyard & Winemaking:
A single, 8.5-acre block planted in 1976 produces the distinctively spicy and elegant Gundlach Bundschu Estate Vineyard Zinfandel in extremely limited quantities. Intensely and sustainably hand-farmed to achieve even ripeness in the old head-pruned vines. Hand harvested in the cool morning hours, the Zinfandel fermented for twelve days before racking to barrel, where it aged for 15 months in 100% American oak, 35% new.

Wine Tasting Notes:
The 2007 growing season gave Gundlach Bundschu winemakers nearly perfect, mild climatic conditions, resulting in low yields and wines of excellent concentration. Intense aromas of black cherry, strawberry, rhubarb, dried lavender, and black and white pepper. Initial cherry flavors darken on the palate into black plum, blackberry and chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied Zinfandel, with silky, refined tannin structure, nice oak integration and good length.
