2006 DeLoach Sonoma Stage Pinot Noir
One 750ml bottle
This lush dark ruby beauty boasts a weighty blend of ripe strawberry jam, earthy violet spice and tart cherry cola, with aromatic edges of toasted hazelnuts and white peppercorn. On the palate, rich roasted flavors emerge from a core of currant, plum cherry and layers of soft leather and spiced cocoa beans.
The wine reveals supreme balance and varietal character with delicate tannin structure and a smoothly textured finish. This remarkable Pinot noir will develop complexity for at least five years.
Planted in 1999 by the Hyde family, the Sonoma Stage vineyard is located near the southern tip of the Sonoma Coast appellation at the apex of Stage Gulch Road between Petaluma and Carneros. This cool, windswept site with notable marine influences yields but two tons per acre of intensely flavored fruit. Native co-fermentation of the Calera and Swan clones, minimal cap manipulation, and extended barrel ageing sur lies preserve the finesse of this Pinot Noir.
