2006 DeLoach Le Roi Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
One 750ml bottle
This is a bright, youthful wine with an intense ruby shade. Aromas of pomegranate and cran-raspberry rise from the glass, followed by hints of vanilla, cinnamon, lavender and cedar. The fine-grained tannins play with notes of baking spices, red plums and sour cherries for a graceful, lingering finish.
Named “the king” in French, our Le Roi Pinot Noir comes from two vineyards nestled among the very cool hills south of Sebastopol. This wine exemplifies the structure and power for which cool climate Pinot noir is famous. The majority of the blend is from the Pleasant Hill Vineyard, planted to clone 23, with the balance from the Maboroshi Vineyard’s clones 667 and 115. Both of these vineyards yielded late-ripening fruit that was fermented in small open-top oak vats and finished fermentation in barrel. The blend was assembled in July 2007 and settled in tank to allow the layers of each component to marry for several months before bottling in December.
