Domaine Carneros
Founded by Champagne Taittinger in 1987, Domaine Carneros Winery produces world-class Pinot Noirs in addition to their celebrated sparkling wines. The classic 18th century chateau-style winery in Napa Valley is considered a regional landmark.
Domaine Carneros Winery, in the heart of Carneros, is the California expression of the tradition and excellence of its founder, Champagne Taittinger. Domaine Carneros is one of the few wineries where you can enjoy table service either in the salon or on the terrace overlooking endless vineyard-covered hills. Domaine Carneros wines may be tasted in flights, by the glass or by the bottle. Caviar and artisan cheese plates matched to wines are also available.
- Setting: Situated atop a knoll surrounded by its vineyards, the spectacular Domaine Carneros chateau offers exquisite views of endless vineyard-covered hills.
- Design: Completed in 1989, the classic 18th century château-style building was inspired by the historic Château de la Marquetterie in Champagne.
- Green: Domaine Carneros earned organic certification (CCOF) on all estate vineyards in April 2008; it had experimented with organic blocks since the mid-1990s.
- Solar: The Pinot Noir facility, styled after a French carriage house, houses the largest solar collection system of any winery in the world.
- Origins: Domaine Carneros began producing Pinot Noir just for employees in 1992. When Claude Taittinger, President of Champagne Taittinger, first tasted it, he requested some for his own cellar and for the cellars of five-star hotels he owns in Europe. The following year they introduced their Pinot Noir to the U.S. market.
