Icaria

From their beautiful hillside perch in the Alexander Valley, Icaria Winery produces intense, structured and food-friendly Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay and Bordeaux blends.

Icaria Creek Winery is located at the Northern tip of Sonoma County within the Alexander Valley. Situated about 400 feet above sea level, the "Asti Foothills," as they like to call their micro-appellation, features both warm days for intensity and cool nights for acidity. 26 acres are planted on the hillsides of their 50 acre estate, yielding layers of complexity in their Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec.

Pairing food with wine is what Icaria is all about. Slaving away for three years on an overdone fruit bomb is not their idea of fun. Their Cabernet is based on elegance and subtlety. It's only just begun its evolution through time.

  • Cabernet: Planted in 1989, Icaria's Cabernet Sauvignon is clone #4, a moderate producer, on aggressive AXR rootstock. This combination produces complex yet refined fruit.
  • Merlot: Icaria's Merlot is planted on two different soil types: Loamy Gravel, which creates an ultra soft tannin wine with refined fruit and earthiness, and Red Loamy Clay which produces dense fruit backed by a more rigid core of tannins.
  • Chardonany: Grown not on the hillside estate but on the valley floor, Icaria's Chardonnay benefits from the deep rich soil to produce soft, luscious, silky fruit.
