Shipping
Where do you ship?
Currently, we ship to addresses in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming (though we’ll be expanding to more states soon.) For some states, we are restricted as to the types of products we can ship. If you try to ship a restricted item to one of those states, we will alert you during checkout. While you can make a purchase on TastingRoom.com from anywhere (provided you’re 21 or older when buying alcohol), we can only ship to addresses within these states. If you’re interested in shipping to another state, use the Do We Ship To Your State? dropdown at the top of the site to select a state; we’ll notify you when we’re serving that state.
Why don’t you ship full-size bottles to Texas?
Due to licensing issues we are unable to ship full-size bottles or offer our club membership to residents of Texas at this time. We ARE able to ship our Wine Samplers and Gift Cards to Texas so feel free to stock up on those items. And remember, you can always contact the winery directly to see if they are able to ship full-size bottles to Texas. Just click on the winery logo on any winery detail page to be taken to their website.
How much does shipping cost?
We’re pleased to offer three shipping options through our shipping partner UPS: Standard, 2-Day, and Next Day. The rate you pay depends on which option you choose, your cart contents, and the shipping destination.
How long does shipping take?
Depending on which shipping option you choose, you can expect to receive your order anywhere from 1–7 business days (weekends don’t count.) Standard Shipping takes anywhere from one to seven days, depending on where in the country you are (we ship from California.) Two-day Shipping takes two business days; Next Day Shipping takes one business day. Other factors that affect shipping include the day of the week the order is received (we ship Monday through Friday) and what time (orders received after 12noon PT are most likely shipped the following day.) Occasionally, due to circumstances beyond our control (such as extreme weather conditions), your shipment may be delayed.
Is an adult signature necessary?
By law, shipments containing alcohol must be signed for by an adult 21 years of age or older with proof of identification. That’s why we recommend you ship to a business address to make sure an adult is there to sign for it. If shipping to work isn’t an option, some customers choose to ship to a neighbor who WILL be home during the day. If UPS can’t deliver due to your inability to provide age verification, your shipment may be returned to us, and your credit card may be charged for the cost of the return shipping and handling. Shipments of non-alcoholic products can be received without an adult signature.
How do I track my shipment?
Tracking your shipment is easy on TastingRoom.com. Once you create a User Account (following your first purchase), we keep track of your current order as well as past orders so you know what wines and wine samplers you’ve bought. Just go to My Account at the top of any page and choose which order you want to see. Also, when your shipment is sent, you’ll receive a Ship Confirmation email which contains a UPS tracking number. Just click on that number and you can track the status of your shipment via the UPS tracking tool.
How do I change my shipping delivery address after I’ve ordered?
You can change your shipping delivery address in the UPS tracking tool. Just enter the tracking number found on your shipping confirmation email and select Choose Another Delivery Option. Choose Deliver to Another Address and enter the new address. Note: UPS charges a nominal fee for this service. See UPS rates here.
Will my order arrive in time for Valentine's Day?
We offer a range of shipping options (Standard, 2-Day, Next Day) to make sure your package arrives on time. Check our Holiday Order Deadlines guide for shipping information for your particular state.
Promotions
How do I use a promotion code?
TastingRoom.com offers great promotions to save you money on premium wines and wine samplers. Just type the promo code (a series of numbers and letters) into the promotion code textbox located in your shopping cart. Click Apply Promotion and the discount will be applied to your order automatically. If the promotion applies to shipping, you will see it applied when you check out.
I tried using my promotion code but it didn’t work. Why not?
Make sure you click on the Apply Promotion button after you enter your code. Double-check you have the right items in your shopping cart to take advantage of the promotion. Also, remember that only one code can be used per order and many codes can only be used one time. But don’t worry. We’re adding new promo codes all the time.
Where do I get a promotion code?
You can get promotions on this Web site, in our subscriber emails, or directly on the invoice that ships with your order. You can even become a fan on our Facebook page and get promotions there too.
Are promotions restricted?
Yes. Our discounts can expire at any time. Also, 1¢ Shipping applies to Standard shipping only and does not apply to group orders. Quantity discounts are based only on split (375ml and full 750ml) size bottles. Samplers with gift cards included in the box are not eligible for sampler discounts. All our offers are void where prohibited by law.
Taste Explorer™ Wine Club
How does the wine club work?
Unlike any other wine club, the Taste Explorer Wine Club lets you pick the wines you receive—after tasting them first. Each period, you’ll receive an exclusive wine sampler containing six 50ml mini bottles of premium wine from six different wineries. In our Adventurer Club, after tasting the wines, you’ll rate and select your favorites right on the Home page (make sure you’re signed in), and we’ll send you two full-size bottles of the wines you love, along with your next club sampler. In our Trailblazer Club, you taste and rate your wines but the full-size bottles aren’t included in the club price. For both clubs, you receive big-time discounts on your club selections and on any extras you decide to buy, you get $4.99 flat rate shipping, and you enjoy special winery benefits too. Note: there may be a delay of a few weeks between the time you sign up and when you receive your first wine sampler. The Club Dashboard on your Home page will tell you the date of your next shipment (make sure you sign in first.) Become a Taste Explorer today!
Do members get discounts?
Yes! All our club members enjoy a 20% Selection Day Discount when they add extra bottles during club wine selection. In addition, members enjoy 10% Anytime Discounts the rest of the month. (Some exceptions apply.) Members get $4.99 flat rate shipping on any order, anytime (except Alaska and Hawaii) as well as discounts when visiting wineries. Learn more about club discounts.
What is Selection Day?
Selection Day is the day you choose your club wines. On Selection Day, you receive a 20% discount on any extra club wines you buy. Your Selection Day Discount represents your biggest available savings so take advantage of it during bottle selection. Your Selection Day can be any day you want, as long as it’s before your bottle selection deadline. You enjoy your regular 10% discount the rest of the period.
What wines will I get to taste?
Our wines are sourced from some of the best producers the world over—California, Oregon, Washington, New York, as well as top winemaking regions in Europe, South America, Australia and South Africa. Each club sampler is hand-selected by our Tasting Panel—a group of winemakers, wine industry veterans, and food and wine experts—who sample wines on a weekly basis to find the very best ones for you to taste. This is the we guide part—top industry experts pick the best wines for you to try. Then, you decide which of the bottles are your favorites.
What’s the deal with shipping?
Regular club shipments include a sampler and two bottles (the Adventurer Club) or just a sampler (the Trailblazer Club.) All members enjoy $4.99 flat shipping rate (customers shipping to Hawaii and Alaska pay extra.) If you add extra bottles to your regular club shipment, that’s included in your flat rate (there are no extra shipping costs.) Learn more about shipping.
Can I change my membership at any time?
Yes, you can. You can switch from one club to another or change shipment frequencies at any time. (There may be a delay while the change takes effect.) You can also put your club membership on hold for a period of one, two, or three months. You can cancel your membership at any time (of course, we hope you love the club so much that you never leave!) To change your membership in any way, please contact Customer Support.
What happens if I forget to pick my wines?
For Adventurer Club members, if you miss your selection deadline, we’ll choose two wines from the current offering to send to you. Don’t worry, we’ll send you a reminder email and post alerts on the Home page so you’ll know the deadline is approaching. Once you select your wines, we’ll stop reminding you. Remember, once you’ve confirmed your club selection your decision is final.
What if I don't like any of the wines in my sampler?
First, we pick a diverse set of wines for each club sampler so we’re confident you’ll find a wine you like. (Remember, you can choose two bottles of the same wine as part of your club selection. If you still can’t find a wine to pick, drop us a line at Customer Support. More than anything, we want you to be a completely satisfied Taste Explorer.
Can I give a gift membership to the wine club?
Yes, and there are lots of options to choose from too. You can give a gift membership to both the Adventurer Club (wine sampler + 2 bottles) and the Trailblazer Club (wine sampler-only.) For the Adventurer Club, you can choose the frequency of shipments (monthly, bimonthly or quarterly) as well as the duration of your gift. The Trailblazer Club is only available monthly. So, there are plenty of options to fit any budget. Give a gift membership today!
What does a recipient of a gift membership actually get?
In their first shipment, the gift recipient receives a welcome gift box with a personalized message, special gifts, their membership card, and instructions on how to sign up. Once they’ve signed up, they receive their first wine sampler plus all the benefits of a regular member—regular shipments of exclusive samplers, their choice of two bottles of their favorite wines (Adventurer Club only), up to 20% off extra bottles from our store, and $4.99 flat rate shipping for any order, any time. I received a gift membership. What do I do?
Simple. First, get the 10-character code from the back of the Gift Membership card that came in your welcome gift box. Go to our Gift Membership sign up page and enter your personal information and code. You’ll be asked to enter your credit card to pay for any additional bottles you may want to buy. After you sign up, you’ll receive your first club sampler. Your first sampler may take several weeks to arrive depending on when you sign up and where in the country you live. (We’ll send you an email when it ships.) If you have any questions, contact Customer Support.
What if I’m not sure which club option to choose?
Not a problem. Our clubs are entirely flexible so if a Taste Explorer decides they’d like to change their membership (e.g. change their shipments from bimonthly to monthly), they can! All they have to do is contact Customer Support. It’s that easy!
Gift Cards
How do I purchase Gift Cards?
Gift Cards can be purchased in our Gift Center, (that big, red Gift button at the top of our site.) You can choose from a variety of denominations: $30, $40, $50, $75, $100, $200. The Gift Card will arrive in a folded greeting card with your personalized message.
How can I check the balance of a Gift Card?
You can check your Gift Card balance in the Customer Support area or during checkout. Just type in the 16-digit card number and click Apply. You can also check it here: Check Gift Card balance.
How do I redeem my Gift Card?
Gift Cards can be redeemed online during checkout. On the Billing Information page, just enter the 16-digit card number found on the back of the card and click Apply. You can enter multiple Gift Cards for the same order.
What if I lose a Gift Card?
Your Gift Card should be considered as cash. We can’t replace a lost or stolen Gift Card. Sorry!
Do Gift Cards expire?
Nope. You are welcome to enjoy your Gift Card at your convenience.
Packaging and Storage
How are the wine samplers packaged?
Wine samplers are made with premium glass bottles, aluminum screwtops, and deluxe packaging to ensure your wine arrives safely, intact and ready to savor. Bottles, caps, and packaging are all recyclable. During warm weather, we use special packaging materials to help ensure your wine is protected from the heat.
How should I store my wine sampler?
As with any wine, your sampler should be kept in a cool, dark location. That said, our wine samplers are meant to be enjoyed, not tucked away. So drink up!
How long will my sampler last?
Each wine sampler is printed with a Best Enjoyed By date to mark the period of time (usually 4–6 months) when the flavors and aromas most closely match the wine in the original bottle from which it came. After this date, the flavors may start to vary slightly from the source bottle due to natural variations in the aging of wine in mini and full bottles. In other words, drink up! Taste and enjoy your wine sampler today and then buy full bottles of your favorite wines for your next meal or to store for the future.
Tasting Tips
What’s the best way to taste the wines in my sampler?
There are lots of different ways to enjoy your wine sampler. One way is to set up six glasses and taste them sequentially, just like in a tasting room. (We include a recommended tasting order on the Tasting Menu in your sampler box.) Or, you can match a wine to a favorite food and try them one by one. And, we might add, it’s sometimes fun to taste with someone else (you decide if you want to share the same glass.) Whichever way you choose, you’ll want to jot down notes on which wines you like most so you can order full-sized bottles. Here are more tasting tips.
Should I taste the wine with food or without?
Your call. Typically, you want to give each wine a fair chance to delight your senses—drinking a little water or eating a bland cracker between wines can cleanse your palate. But if you’re experimenting with pairing food and wine, why not? Of course, you might want to taste your wine before you fill your mouth with blue cheese, to make sure you really taste it. We’re just saying...
Are there limits to how many wines I can taste?
Nope. You can buy as many bottles or samplers as you want. Just remember to drink responsibly.
